Nursing Assistant- Family Birth Center

Full-time:

  • .9fte (72 hours bi-weekly)

  • Nights: 11:00pm-7:00am

  • Every other holiday and weekend rotation

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED/equivalent

  • Must be a graduate of a an approved Certified Nursing Assistant program

  • Must be active on the Minnesota State Registry as a Certified Nursing Assistant

Position Overview:

The Nursing Assistant is an integral part of the health care team who assists professional nursing personnel in the delivery of patient care in the Family Birth Center and when needed in Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics, Intensive Care Unit, Behavioral Medicine and Outpatient Psych. The Nursing Assistant primarily supports nursing functions as planned and delegated by the professional nurse. In addition to the direct patient contact, the Nursing Assistant is responsible for some clerical duties, assisting with maintenance of unit organization and assisting with codes as directed.

Must be a graduate of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant program and must remain current on the Minnesota State Registry as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

  1. Perform any duties related to the care and comfort of our patients including, but not limited to, bathing, feeding, ambulation, bed repositioning, toileting, and personal cares.

  2. Demonstrates proper use of all transfer devices and various equipment in the MSP/FBC/ICU departments. Successful completion of all training related to using these devices.

  3. Demonstrates proper room order.

  4. Demonstrates an understanding of the operation and transportation of hospital equipment including portable oxygen.

  5. Has completed all mandatory education as required by Winona Health.

  6. Verbalizes role in public address codes.
