Applicants and employees in positions which perform job duties that may require contact with offenders in the custody or supervision of the Department of Corrections or with youth in the care, custody, or supervision of the Department of Juvenile Justice must meet qualifications pursuant to the federal Prison Rape Elimination Act, 28 C.F.R.115.17 and 115.317.Description of Job Duties:Supervises professional and ancillary employees in the administration of efficient nursing care of residents and makes recommendations to the Nursing Administrator and Nurse Shift Supervisor at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center. Provides first level supervision and evaluation of nursing care staff. Documents, communicates and reports administrative/clinical issues in a clear and concise manner to appropriate personnel. Assesses, plans interventions, evaluates and implements resident plan of care. Ensures updates are specific and timely. Confers with licensed personnel regarding resident condition, changes in care needs, treatment, notification of health care providers (Medical Doctor/Advanced Practitioner Registered Nurse), and disposition to external facility. Assigns clinical staff based on knowledge, skills and expertise to meet identified resident/patient care needs. Participates in all aspects of direct care including responding to emergency situations. Participates in staff education and serves as preceptor in new employee orientation. A fingerprint supported national background check will be conducted prior to an offer of employment.Special Requirements ::Must be licensed in Kentucky as a registered nurse or possess a valid work permit issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing.
