Nursing Assistant - Complex Medical Unit Job LocationUS-MN-St. PaulJob ID 2018-10425 Category Patient Care Support/Nursing Assistant Contract Status C1 FTE 0.60 Shift Evenings Standard Work Schedule 8 hour shifts every other weekend Overview This position is 48 hours per two weeks on the evening shift from 3pm to 1130pm, every other weekend rotation on a variable schedule. Benefit eligible. This unit can take any type of patient except for telemetry so if you are looking for variety - this is it! A member of the interdependent team led by a designated RN, is accountable to perform patient care duties and activities for a group of patients. Performs such care as vital sign checks, bladder scanning, blood sugar testing, documentation of cares provided. Reports patient care data and progress of outcomes to designated RN. Responsibilities Demonstrates commitment to the universal guiding principles of the patient care model in order to achieve the HealthEast Nursing vision Supports the Nursing Process to achieve outcome focused patient care Supports holistic nursing theory based on Watson's theory of caring aligning with the practice standards of the American Holistic Nurses' Association and the HealthEast nursing patient care model (Professional Partnership Model) in order to achieve the HealthEast Nursing vision Communicates accurately and effectively with patient/family and health care team members Reinforces patient education as directed by clinical staff Achieves customer service excellence by understanding the needs of all internal and external customers, patients, families, physicians and the interdependent team Documents patient information in EHR and/or other electronic system in accordance with program standards, department policies/procedures Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association Graduate of accredited medical or nursing assistant program or equivalent preferred CNA/CMA preferred Patient care experience preferred Patient Care Delivery: Observes and collects pertinent data and/or clinical findings to enhance patient outcomes Patient Education: Provides patient educational information appropriate to the developmental level, learning needs, readiness, cultural values, and beliefs of patients and families Patient Safety: Demonstrates practices that support safety with recognition of variations in populations served, preventing harm to patients, families, employees, and themselves Ability to use a computer and applications that are associated with performing basic work tasks (navigate in Windows, Outlook, etc) Skilled in developing effective rapport with customers, co-workers, or families, actively listening to develop a positive connection Builds effective partnerships with medical staff, physicians, fostering open lines of communication and establishing trust Formulating a plan for a program from a concept or idea Understanding how things influence one another other within a whole; carefully balances the good of the department or site with the entire organization About HealthEast At HealthEast, our patients are our neighbors and we are dedicated to their, and our, optimal health and well-being.
