  • This position support patient care in Med/Surg, Family Birth Place, SCU, PEDS, and Transport areas

  • Administers direct and indirect patient care to an assigned group of patients working under the direction of the RN

  • Demonstrates ability to function effectively in emergency / crisis situation

  • Uses initiative, judgment, and evaluation in providing patient care

  • Promotes involvement of patient, family, and significant others in care management

  • Provides patient care consistent with SFRMC policies and procedures

  • Reports patient observations and data to the appropriate nursing/ancillary staff

  • Demonstrates clinical competency in performing nursing assistant responsibilities

  • Protects patient privacy/rights as observed by RN, colleagues, and patient

  • Documents data reflecting patient care provider

  • Effectively, consistently, and accurately communicates current and changing patient status to the RN/LPN

  • Uses verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills that facilitate the exchange of information among team members, patients, and family members, while respecting issues of confidentiality

  • Participates in unit staff meetings and unit hospital competencies

  • Recognizes position/knowledge limitations and consults with care team leader on a consistent basis

  • Functions effectively as a team member, fostering spirit of mutual respect and cooperative working relationships

  • Self-directed, taking individual responsibility for their own personal and professional development

  • Maintains professional appearance

  • Seeks opportunity to maintain and broaden clinical skills

  • Promotes a positive image of SFRMC through actions and communication to provide a customer-oriented approach to patient care

Education

  • High school graduate

  • Successful completion Nursing Assistant course, or completion of one clinical course of Registered Nurse program

Qualification/Skills

Experience

  • Current Nursing Assistant experience preferred

Skills

  • Effective communication skills, organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

  • Ability to work well with patients, families, and other team members

  • Computer skills

Licensure/Certifications

  • Current Nursing Assistant certification

Work Schedule

  • 36 Hours per week (0.9 FTE)

  • Night Shifts

  • 6 (12) hour shifts in a two week period

  • 12 hour shifts (7:00pm-7:30am)

  • Straight Night Shifts

  • Every Third weekend

  • Benefit Eligible

  • SEIU L113 Contract
