Staff Nurse - Cardiac Renal (180568) SUMMARY HCMC has a current opening for a Staff Nurse in the Cardiac Renal Department. This position is a 0.5 FTE (5 shifts/ pay period), 8-hour shifts, Day/ Night, Every Other Weekend. Cardiac Renal Inpatient Unit (CaRe1, CaRe2, and CMIC) is a 49 bed acute care inpatient unit. The 12 beds in the Cardiac Medical Intermediate Care area (CMIC) provide intermediate or step down level of care. The patient population of this unit consists of cardiac, renal, and medicine patients. The most frequent cardiac patient populations cared for are patients with chest pain, Coronary Artery Disease with complications, Acute Myocardial Infarction, Congestive Heart Failure, Arrthymias and post-operative cardiac surgery patients. Remote Telemetry services to selected medical/surgical patient care areas are overseen and provided by Telemetry Technicians, located in the Telemetry Suite on this unit. RESPONSIBILITIES Within the context of the Hennepin County Medical Center "Centered Around You" Patient & Family Centered Care practice model, and under general supervision, the registered nurse provides and coordinates nursing care by: Protecting, promoting wellness and optimizing health Triaging patients by assessing severity of symptoms and referral to appropriate setting or level of care Alleviating suffering through nursing interventions and prescribed treatments Partnering with the patient, their family and significant others Documenting interventions and an individualized plan of care Educating patient on their disease process Assuring continuity of care Educating patient and family in preventative care which promotes health and well being Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota New HCMC employees: Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of nursing or currently enrolled (employment is contingent on completion of the program within two years of hire date) Preferred Qualifications: 1 year of professional (RN) nursing experience EEO/Disability/Veteran employer.
