Henry Ford Health System Registered Nurse / Post Anesthesia Care / Full-time / Afternoon Shift (12p - 10:30p) - Detroit in Detroit, Michigan
The PreOp and PACU department at Henry Ford Hospital Detroit campus is a 53-bay unit that cares for a very diverse surgical patient population. The hospital is recognized for clinical excellence in the fields of cardiology and cardiovascular surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics and sports medicine, multi-organ transplantation, and the treatment of prostate, breast, and lung cancer. All bedside staff are cross-trained to provide for both pre- and post-anesthesia patient care. Due to the multitude of surgical procedures available, our nurses must be trained and proficient in the knowledge of service specific needs and appropriate care pathways. RNs applying should have significant critical care background, as the customers they care for will range from outpatients to those requiring admission into an intensive care unit. It is also understood that the RN will learn to use a collaborative approach to patient management with respect to anesthetic agents and adjuncts in this specialty practice area. Additionally, it is expected that the Perioperative RN is a professional care provider who provides safe, effective, and individualized care using the nursing process. Performance of these duties require skills, effective working relationships, setting priorities, and demonstrating knowledge of standard ASPAN procedures and guidelines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:· Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan and in good standing with Board of Nursing· Current valid certification of BLS and ACLS· Job history with Intensive care unit or Emergency Department work (6 months minimum) PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS:· BSN prepared RN· PALS certification· Certification in Critical Care (CCRN), Post Anesthesia (CPAN), or Ambulatory Nursing (CAPA)· Experience in Intensive Care Unit > 1 yearOverview Henry Ford Health System, one of the largest and most comprehensive integrated U.S. health care systems, is a national leader in clinical care, research and education.
