SALARY BASED ON EXPERIENCE INCLUDING SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL - $22.223/hour BASE RATE.

Regular work hours are variable and will include some weekend, holiday, and on-call hours. Hours may vary depending on facility needs. The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) employs nearly 2,300 team members operating 10 institutions, which house approximately 5,200 inmates, statewide. The department's focus includes inmate programming and education, physical and behavioral health care, re-entry services, and community programs, and is accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA). Examples of Work

Under limited supervision of a Nursing Director/Associate or Nurse Supervisor, provides professional nursing care for ill, injured, or disabled inmates. Provides clinical direction and guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses and direct care staff, provides direct patient nursing care and treatment within the scope of licensure, in a correctional setting. Performs patient care in a clinic or hospital setting. Administer medications, transcribe and carry out doctor's orders, assess patients utilizing protocols, triage. Assist in moving patients.

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENT: Current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska.

PREFERRED: Experience in assigning, reviewing, leading, or supervising the work of others.

OTHER: Will complete four to eight weeks of on the job training. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical examination, and randomly announced drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Corrections Training Program. ?Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
