Job Description

Job Summary:

The Educator-Nursing 1 assesses, plans, implements and evaluates educational activities planning for an assigned service or population.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with nurse managers and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies of staff.

  • Develops, implements and evaluates educational plans/programs and utilizes methods, measurements and tools to evaluate achievement of learning goals.

  • Serves as a resource for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development.

  • Participates in the coordination and continuity of orientation programs, including preceptor programs.

  • Facilitate a consistent process for introduction of new products, materials, and equipment. Education programs are designed to ensure that staff members are able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on his or her unit.

  • Integrates and applies technology into teaching strategies and professional practice.

  • Participates in nursing, hospital, and system teams and committees.

  • Assures that education programs are appropriate, necessary, and meet the requirements of all customers of the education process including regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):

  • Current Basic Life Support Instructor certification from the AHA required or within six (6) months of hire. Once the Instructor certification is obtained, BLS-HCP is no longer needed.

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with the State of Michigan required.

  • One or more of the following:

  • Basic Life Support Provider certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required. American Red Cross (ARC) CPR for Professional Rescuers card will be accepted upon hire but renewal must be a BLS Provider card from AHA.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required Master's degree preferred

Work Experience:

  • 3 years of RN clinical experience required. Previous education experience preferred.
