Job Details

The Clinical Nurse Specialist role components of advanced practice, education, consultation, and research. Responsible for providing and directing postoperative cardiac surgical care to patients by nurses in Critical Care. Delivers and facilitates high quality nursing care, identifies educational needs, plans for addressing those needs, responds to requests for problem resolution, promotes application of research in the clinical setting, acts as a clinical resource for management, capable of caring for the population group and promotes the mission and values of the Healthcare System. Serves as a clinical expert in directing the clinical nursing practice of the Critical Care Heart Team Nurse. Assists in the development, implementation, and training of the Critical Care nursing staff to meet the strategic goals to develop a robust cardiac surgery division. Must be able to work collaboratively with Nurse and Physician to enhance the knowledge base of the nurses to exceed standards of care for evidence based practice. Acts as a consultant to the staff and will be responsible for the development of the applicable competency programs. REQUIREMENTS: · Master's degree in Nursing required. · Two years clinical experience in Critical Nursing Care. · Evidence of expertise and competency in Cardiovascular Surgery nursing practice. · Must have a current Calif RN license · Must be certified by the State of Calif as a Clinical Nurse Specialist · Must have a current certification in Critical Care or Cardiovascular Surgery · Must have BLS and ACLS by the AHA
