National Lutheran Communities and Services Certified Nursing Assistant in Rockville, Maryland

Full-time and PRN positions serving the elderly in Montgomery County.

CORE COMPETENCIES

Reporting to the myPotential at Home Clinical Director, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for delivering assistance in a caring and respectful manner, in accordance with relevant policies of NLCS and myPotential at Home and industry standards to meet the needs of clients and their families/caregivers. This position provides a variety of services associated with activities of daily living to meet client needs in his/her home.

Observes clients and their environments and reports behavior, physical and/or cognitive changes, and/or changes in living arrangements to Supervisor (and agency as required) Provides the daily personal care needs of clients as written in care plan to include but not limited to: Obtaining vital signs Bathing, grooming, and general hygiene Assisting with body positioning or transferring in and out of bed and/or wheelchair Observing and reporting changes in client’s condition, including vital signs. Assistance with bowel and bladder control, devices and training programs Assisting clients with self-administration of medication to include medication reminders Assistance with therapeutic or passive range of motion exercises Perform routine and delegated procedures assigned by a RN, PT, or OT specified in care plan, with instruction for performing the procedures for the client Observe clients and their environments and reports behavior, physical and/or cognitive changes, and/or changes in living arrangements to Supervisor Provides client with laundry and linen changes. Provides for a safe living environment for client without infringing on the client’s rights. No assistance is to be offered regarding any financial matters of the clients. Report any change in the client’s location to the Clinical Director Maintains records as required. Performs other related duties as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess and maintain all applicable certifications in accordance with State law including CNA High School Diploma or equivalent preferred Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance Experience in a home care, home health or long term health care environment a plus Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image Must possess skills to make decisions and solve problems Must possess strong written and oral communication skills; be able to follow oral and written directions; and ability to maintain confidential information Must comply with State Tuberculosis (PPD) clearances
