Medicine Specialty Unit
VCU Health System System's Medicine Specialty Unit is seeking a Clinical Nurse to work our Weekend Incentive Program (WIP). Must work Saturdays and Sundays. The Medicine Specialty is 28 bed unit, all telemetry capable with 6 progressive care beds, focused on caring for the adult medical patient population. The unit's mission is to foster collegial relationships between the entire inter-professional team to create a nurturing, caring, positive environment for our patients, families and team members. We are looking for team members who are highly adaptable, flexible and committed to providing excellent nursing care to Adult patients with acute on chronic disease processes. The Medicine Specialty Unit prides itself in our commitment to caring for self and our team members, embracing Jean Watson caring theory, by providing a space for our team members to have a moment of silence and relaxation during stressful shifts. We are committed to providing our patients with the education, resources and tools to best manage their care as they transition through the continuum of care in an inpatient hospital setting. The Clinical Nurse will practice within the boundaries of the Commonwealth of Virginia regulations governing nursing. Practice is also guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nursing and established national nursing practice standards, as well as all VCU. Click here to learn more about our Medicine Division. *Completion of a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program within 5 years of hire, if not currently BSN-prepared or higher, will be a requirement for continued employment. *Completion of our accredited Nurse Residency Program will be a requirement for all new graduate nurse hires. This program provides transitional support during the first year of practice by fostering comprehensive, individualized preceptorships and guiding all new graduates along the journey towards successful promotion to Clinical Nurse II within the Professional Advancement Program (PAP) at VCU Health. Qualifications Required Graduate of, or within 90 days of graduation from, an accredited RN nursing program. Current RN licensure in Virginia or compact state, or eligible for licensure. All selected new graduate applicants must take and pass NCLEX within 90 days of graduation date. Qualifications Preferred Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited RN nursing program. Academic Medical Center experience as a registered nurse. Registered nurse experience with similar patient population in either an acute care setting or as applicable to area of desired practice. AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent. Selected applicants will be slotted into appropriate levels for this position based on their experience and qualifications.
