Position Description

The Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Research Nurse Coordinator who will participate in the research activities of the Hepatology clinical research team and assist in the planning, organizing, implementing, and monitoring of adult patients enrolled in research protocols, as directed by Dr. Ramon Bataller. Responsibilities will consist of recruitment-consenting of patients, processing biological samples, preparation of protocol budgets, IRB protocol preparation and submission, coordination of study site visits, maintenance of all necessary records, and communication between the study principal investigator, patients, sponsoring agencies and other health care providers and researchers related to the study.

Education Required Baccalaureate

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 3-5 years experience

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Completion of nursing program and current PA RN license; Master’s degree preferred. Specific experience with the IRB and research protocols is critical. At least five years of clinical experience may be substituted for advanced training.

Required Licenses/Certifications

Pennsylvania RN license

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
