Position Description :
The RN Nursing Clinical Coordinator actively participates in a collaborative/consultative/supportive role with the Chief Nursing Officer, the Clinical Directors and the Nursing Network Center to assure quality patient care. In this administrative and clinical leadership role, he/she will promote excellence in departmental programs/projects on the "off-shifts" and support ongoing educational activities for quality care at controlled costs. He/she directs, supervises, evaluates and supports patient care activities, serves as a resource and mentor to staff RNs and other personnel on clinical practice and is a resource for the implementation/interpretation of hospital and nursing policies and procedures.
The candidate will be part of the hospital rapid response team, and mentor staff on recognition of and interventions for patients with deteriorating conditions. The candidate will facilitate patient flow and optimize efficient/appropriate patient placements. He/she supports the use of the EPIC tool in communicating tentative and finalized pending discharges/transfers, EVS requests, bed requests, bed assignments, hallmarks and other functions.
He/she assists with prioritizing staffing needs on the inpatient units and the ED on a day to day basis and works to support staffing functions on "off-shifts'" including weekends and holidays. He/she will have the ability to follow fiscal and HR policies in determining staff utilization and distribution.
The selected candidate must be able to identify, problem-solve, communicate and delegate to facilitate patient flow.
Must have the ability to function in the role of Administrative or Clinical Coordinator.
The Nursing Clinical Coordinator must have the ability to resolve problems that require an administrative decision or intervention in conjunction with Hospital policies and procedures. He/she will collaborate with Clinical Directors, Associate Administrators, and Departmental Directors in decisions that affect patient care and hospital functioning.

Minimum Requirements :
The minimum requirements for this position include a BSN, current PA RN license and current ACLS certification. Critical care experience is strongly preferred and the candidate must have demonstrated, progressive experience in a leadership role (i.e. charge nurse, nurse manager, supervisor).
Superior communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to multi-task, organize, delegate and prioritize as well as the ability to identify resources in problem solving are key. Experience in the facilitation of patient flow in a large, tertiary setting is highly recommended. The ideal candidate must also be an effective negotiator and have strong critical thinking skills.
