RN House Supervisor: POSITION SUMMARY: The Nursing Supervisor-Gate Keeper provides clinical management to the hospital, through organizing, coordinating, and monitoring patient admissions through out the hospital. They are in charge of patient placement to all the units of the hospital. They are the first line of communication for all admissions into the hospital. They determine the appropriate status of all patients who are admitted to the hospital, using the Interqual criteria. They are here every day and night of the week with 24-7 coverage. The Supervisor performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care at MVH. The House Supervisor displays positive support for the values and mission of MVH. Under general direction, assumes management and leadership responsibilities hospital wide when administration is not present. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and ancillary staff to ensure high quality patient care is delivered within the framework of the hospital's policies and procedures. Demonstrates professional growth-development. Skilled at critical thinking and problem solving. * Current Utah State Registered Nurse Licensure or RN compact license required. * Three 3 years clinical nursing experience preferred. * Supervisory experience preferred. * Current BLS certification and ACLS * PALS, NPR and TNCC certifications preferred. * Must obtain PALS or NPR certifications within 1 year from date of hire and then maintain certification. Skills: * Able to articulate and demonstrate appropriate nursing theory and practice. Experience requirements are specific to positions and departments as appropriate. * Demonstrates good organizational skills. Provides safe and appropriate patient care within the Standards of Nursing Practice at MVH. Displays appropriate judgment and problem solving skills. Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers. Knowledge of Interqual, and Observational Rules from CMS. Training in the One Day Stay Module, and medical necessity. * Ability to read and communicate effective in English. * Additional languages preferred * Basic computer knowledge and keyboard skills.
