EVMS Licensed Practical Nurse in Norfolk, Virginia

Assist physicians with patient care within the Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and General Obstetrics & Gynecology Divisions in a clinical setting. Job duties include, but are not limited to, reporting of tests results, assessment of patient status, educational needs, and follow up care. Also provides education for staff and assists with research studies.

  • Build a strong working relationship with referring physicians and specialty providers

  • Provide individual nursing care and education to address the needs of the patient

  • Assist physician in addressing patient questions and concerns

  • Ensure timeliness in scheduling patient appointments

  • Facilitate referrals to consultants in collaborative care as directed by the physician

  • Manage patients through the electronic health record, ensuring that patients are monitored through their active treatment plan

  • Assist with tracking metrics and statistics as requested

  • Phone triage through electronic health record, maintaining all assigned tasks in a timely manner & documenting all patient encounters within the electronic health record

  • Triage patients to include obtaining vitals and escort to treatment room

  • Assist with office surgical and diagnostic procedures

  • Assembles and prepares equipment and supplies for procedures as required.

  • Coordinate additional care for patients to include follow-up testing or procedures, scheduling, physician’s orders, and hospital admissions.

  • Provide education and act as a resource to other staff members regarding the care of patients.

  • Promote the philosophy, goals, and objectives of EVMS, the Department of OB/GYN, and the Advanced Gynecological Surgery Center by becoming familiar with and complying with objectives, milestones, policies, and procedures.

  • Attendance, as assigned, is essential to meeting required performance duties.

  • Complete other duties as assigned.

  • Assist physicians on daily basis with exams, recording vitals, pelvic ultrasounds, and performing various lab tests.

Completion of a program of instruction for LPN. Must be a licensed Practical Nurse in Virginia. One year of relevant nursing experience preferred.
