PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT/ NURSE PRACTITIONER PEDIATRIC CARDIAC SURGERY Job Number: 2700Category: Physician AssistantLocation: Newark, NJ The Division of Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiac Surgery at the Children s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is seeking a motivated Physician s Assistant to join their accomplished team. The Children s Heart Center at the Children s Hospital of New Jersey provides the full spectrum of care for patients with congenital heart disease in New Jersey and beyond. This individual will be an integral member of a dynamic team that supports an active congenital cardiac surgical program in the pre-operative, intraoperative and post-operative management of our patients. Primary responsibilities will include: * Comprehensive congenital cardiac intensive care management * Surgical first assistance in a variety of congenital cardiac surgical procedures * Participation in daily multidisciplinary s urgical rounds and in collaboration with the surgeon, ICU physician and cardiologist * Discharge planning * Preoperative consultation and preparation Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program Current NJ Certification as Physician Assistant BLS/ACLS/PALsrequired Previous Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Experience preferred --OR-- The NURSE PRACTITIONER is an independent health care provider who coordinates inpatient/outpatient care through collaboration with the division Medical Director or his/her designee. The PA provides care in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures of the hospital and the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners/Physician Assistant Advisory Committee. Description: * Advance Practice Nurses possess expertise in the management of complex responses of individuals, families, and communities to actual or potential health problems. * The APN role is multifaceted. APN's serve as direct care providers, consultants, researchers, and educators. * The APN, as Practitioner, models excellence in practice through direct care to selected patients or groups. * As Consultant, the APN does problem solving with individuals, families, group agencies, As Educator, the APN supports and participates in learning efforts of clients, staff and students within the clinical setting, area schools and institutions of higher learning. The APN, as Researcher, promotes scientific inquiry in clinical practice and uses research process and findings to improve nursing practice. The APN takes responsibility for his/her own Professional Development by continuing to improve and augment personal skills and contribute to the health of society. * 3-5 Years of experience in related specialty * NJ RN license * NJ Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner licensure * Prescriptive licensure * Master's degree required * BLS/ACLS/PALS required * Previous pediatric cardiac experience ****MUST HAVE RNFA***** NBIMC is an EOE.
