  • Job Summary: This position will support LLUMC's strategic plan and the organization's mission to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ, while embracing the core values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Wholeness. The Clinical Nurse C, Cardiodiagnostic Lab, practices in a large university medical center with a Level I Tertiary Trauma Center designation under the general supervision of the Director. Follows the nursing process and consistently demonstrates advanced level of clinical practice in performing simple and complex diagnostic and therapeutic noninvasive cardiac diagnostic procedures for the adult and pediatric in-patient and out-patient populations with cardiac dysfunction. Performs the nursing process independently. Serves as a role model in multidisciplinary patient care delivery methods, problem solving, and consistently demonstrates advanced level of clinical practice. Applies discretion and independent judgment to the provision of age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient care. Collaborates and provides leadership in the development of standards of care, patient/family education and staff education to address the needs of this specialized patient population. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice. Participates in educational activities, departmental committees and approved research projects. Provides direction and guidance in the proper use, care and control of material resources. Appraises quality and effectiveness of material and equipment and communicates to designated individuals. Guides the professional growth of others across the continuum of care through role modeling, coaching and/or mentoring by designing orientation modules and serving as a primary preceptor to staff or students. Floats among outpatient provider-based clinic and other assigned areas. Performs other duties as needed. Job Specifications: Able to: read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment; perform technical patient care activities. Able to: relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to: communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; perform math functions as required for position; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Completion of Registered Nursing (RN) program required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Minimum three years of previous ICU experience or three years previous cardiac or vascular non-invasive diagnostics experience required. Active California RN License and Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required by end of introductory period.
