The selectee for this position will serve as a Practical Nurse (Health Promtion) of NAVHOSP JACKSONVILLE.

Duties

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

  • Provide direct health and wellness instruction and counseling.
  • Screen health records and provide health education services to active duty members.
  • Educate individuals on resources available to assist in living a heath lifestyle.
  • Conduct heath testing and screening procedures under guidance and direction of the Nurse Supervisor.
  • Participate in special activities such as health fairs.

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess licensed to practice as practical or vocational nurses in a State or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia or must have applied for a license to practice. Applications of candidates possessing a license must be accompanied by a certified or photostatic copy of the license, a notarized statement attesting to the fact, or a citation of the license number and State issuing it. Non-licensed candidates who have completed their training may be appointed subject to obtaining the required license during the probationary period. Those not licensed must furnish the date on which they applied for a license and the jurisdiction involved. No person appointed pending licensure may be retained beyond the probationary period if licensure has not been attained

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience conveying information to a variety of groups. Experience maintaining and working with various computer database. Experience effectively running and maintaining wellness programs. Experience dealing with customers with courtesy and tact.

All qualifications requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.

Selectee must obtain and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activity/command.

Selectee(s) must meet any applicable credentialing or privileging requirements prior to appointment.

Work requires long periods of standing and walking during instructional sessions, lifting and moving boxes of literature, instructional displays and audiovisual equipment. Work is performed within the offices and classroom of the Naval Subase Kings Bay Fitness Complex, occasionally a health care setting and in alternate work sites including tenant commands, local community agencies and other military treatment facilities.

Physical exam, PPD/MMR and Seasonal Influenza vaccine is required.
