Neighborhood Healthcare Registered Nurse FT (Elm Site) in Escondido, California
Summary: The Registered Nurse is a valuable member of the patient care team and responsible for providing patient care in a clinic setting. This includes RN triage to determine patients’ needs, performing nursing procedures, assisting provider as needed and providing patient education. The RN will also troubleshoot and problem solve as needed to meet patient needs.
Explain procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding and allay apprehension.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
Prepare equipment and aids provider during treatment and examination of patient.
Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.
Observe patients, records significant conditions and reactions and notify supervisor or Physician of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments and significant incidents.
Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient.
Respond to lifesaving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedure and protocol.
Document nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients.
Initiate a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient as prescribed by provider and/or clinic policy including patient and family instruction.
Rotate among various clinical sites.
Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies for procedures.
Participate in department or unit quality improvement activities.
Keep self and others informed of organizational goals and promote mission and goals.
Function at highest level according to credentials and competency.

Share accountability for overall patient health outcomes, working in coordination with Care Teams.

Skills and Qualifications: Proficient using an electronic health records system. Able to provide nursing direction to multiple care teams. Ability to interact with a diverse population in a fast paced primary care setting. Excellent nursing assessment: critical thinking skills. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
Education and Experience: CA Registered Nurse license and BLS certification. RN experience in a fast paced setting.
