Neighborhood Healthcare Registered Nurse Float FT (Riverside County Sites) in Escondido, California
Summary: The Float RN will work scheduled shifts to provide RN replacement coverage at all NHC clinic sites. At times, the schedule may change to accommodate “same day” call out and may rarely include evening, weekend day shifts.
This position requires travel to the assigned clinic and this position requires the RN to be knowledgeable re RN duties and workflows at each clinic. See RN duties listed below.
The Registered Nurse is a valuable member of the patient care team and responsible for providing patient care in a clinic setting. This includes RN triage to determine patients’ needs, performing nursing procedures, assisting provider as needed and providing patient education.
Explain procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding and allay apprehension.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
Prepare equipment and aids provider during treatment and examination of patient.
Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.
Observe patients, records significant conditions and reactions and notify supervisor or Physician of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments and significant incidents.
Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient.
Respond to lifesaving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedure and protocol.
Document nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients.
Initiate a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient as prescribed by provider and/or clinic policy including patient and family instruction.
Rotate among various clinical sites.
Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies for procedures.
Participate in department or unit quality improvement activities.
Keep self and others informed of organizational goals and promote mission and goals.
Function at highest level according to credentials and competency.
Positively impact patient experience by demonstrating values of Transforming Care including, but not limited to, courteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracy.
Share accountability for overall patient health outcomes, working in coordination with Care Teams.
Operate to instill confidence in our care and in our facilities to patients, fellow employees, and other stakeholders.

Skills: Excellent Nursing assessment and critical thinking skills Ability to work with diverse patient populations and the clinical care team to promote healthcare and optimal patient health. Able to provide nursing direction to multiple care teams. Proficient with electronic health records. Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Arabic a plus!
Education: CA RN license. BLS certification.
Experience: Minimum one year experience in ER, outpatient or general medicine preferred.
