Ministry Support (Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries) Unit Manager (Skilled Nursing) in Carlisle, Pennsylvania

Category/Shift/Hours per 2 week pay period: Full-time/ Day Shift/ 80 hours per pay period Education/Training: Graduate of an approved school of nursing; a BS degree in Nursing preferred; current State license to practice as a Registered Nurse; maintenance of license by performing necessary continuing education requirements. Skill(s): Excellent interpersonal relations and communicative skills; thorough knowledge of current long-term care nursing practices in accordance with the State Department of Health long-term care licensure regulations and federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services; knowledge of drug interactions, side effects, and incompatibilities; demonstrated decision-making skill; knowledge of hazardous materials, bloodborne pathogens and infection control procedures; moderate computer skills; proficient organizational skills; proficient assessment skills; demonstrated management and supervisory skills; current C.P.R. certification (or eligibility and pursuit of certification within 90 days of employment); satisfactory completion of pre-employment physical (post-offer); proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; ability to sit, stand, lift, bend, reach, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 lbs.; visual and auditory skills. Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience in a long- term care geriatric setting and/or acute care and a minimum of one (1) year experience working as a charge nurse in a long-term care geriatric setting preferred. General Responsibilities: Supports the Director of Nursing (DON) with the delivery of efficient and effective nursing care while achieving positive clinical outcomes, and resident, family and employee satisfaction. Responsible for the clinical operations of the nursing units which includes ensuring compliance with Diakon policies and procedures, practice standards and regulations. Responsible for facilitating the implementation of the care delivery model and processes, mentoring of staff, coordination and communication with other departments, while ensuring resident and family satisfaction.
