Responsibilities*

Nursing:

Primary duty to provide complex nursing support to a large outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program. Thorough cardiopulmonary assessments, providing recommended treatment options and expertise for making decisions for urgent/emergency situations.

·Knowledge of appropriate hemodynamic responses of the cardiopulmonary system during exercise interventions and testing.

·Experience with heart failure management.

· Ability to assess medical stability, consistent with existing guidelines, prior to beginning an exercise program in patients post CABG, PCI, Valve Repair, heart failure, MI, heart transplant and stable angina.

· Ability to assess readiness for change and medical stability prior to beginning lifestyle programs targeting the metabolic syndrome.

· Intake Process for Cardiac-rehab, Met-fit, HTN, and Lipids programs

Additionally, provide comprehensive nursing case management in multidisciplinary cardiovascular clinic with emphasis on primary and secondary prevention. Coordinate care and follow-up for patients with complex cardiac disorders. Provide instruction and consultation to members of the health care team. Work with leadership to develop criteria for quality assurance of cardiac program. Excellent clinical assessment skills

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:

This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C (B INC).

Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.

Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level E.

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.

Required Qualifications*

Current license to practice nursing in Michigan is required

Current Advance Cardiac Life Support credential is required

Knowledge of the Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (AACVPR) national guidelines for cardiac rehab

Minimum of two-three years Adult Cardiology nursing experience

Demonstrated clinical expertise in cardiology practice including:

-Diagnostic test interpretation including EKG interpretation of abnormal rhythms

-Cardiac medications

-Emergency management of cardiac patients in an outpatient setting

-Familiar with ACC (American College of Cardiology) guidelines for general cardiology patients

-Lipid and risk factor management and secondary prevention

-Evaluation of lab abnormalities;

-Ability to assess patients mental, physical and psycho-social well-being and develop a plan of care

Demonstrated competence with computer functions including:

-Outlook

-Microsoft Word

-Microsoft Excel

-MiChart

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a multidisciplinary team with the goal of service excellence and patient Family Centered Care.

Willingness to perform the role with excellent multitasking abilities.

Excellent competence in verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated ability to communicate assertively and effectively and act as the patient advocate.

Demonstrated high level of self-motivation to learn and stay current in the treatment of cardiovascular patients. Self-motivation to participate in activities to improve patient care.

Ability to triage daily assignments and make adjustments to assure the program needs are met.

Desired Qualifications*

Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Certified Cardiac Rehab professional by AACVPR or other clinical exercise certification

Recent ambulatory experience within the last three years

Excellent IV skills

Interventional cardiology experience.

Experience in exercise physiology

Three-Five years experience performing Stress testing

One-year experience in Preventive Cardiology

One year experience with Heart Failure population

Experience with stress echo’s, running tests, and monitoring and assessing patients.

Previous experience in group education lectures.

Previous experience in developing evidence-based clinical protocols.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience with continuous quality improvement.

Desire to be on unit committees to improve patient outcomes.

Work Schedule

Worked Hours : 40 hours a week, 3 days a week supporting Cardiac Rehab and 2 days a week supporting Preventive Cardiology nursing, then alternating the schedule the following week, i.e. 3 days a week supporting preventive cardiology and 2 days a week supporting Cardiac Rehab.

· Flexible to fully support Cardiac rehab Monday through Friday to support vacation coverage.

· Shifts: Mon- Fri, 8 am- 5 pm, future may include some evenings for cardiac rehab

· Potential weekend and on-call coverage

· Location: Dominos Farms

Note: all new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
