Job Summary

This is a Decentralized Float RN position which involves staffing assignments at the East Ann Arbor Health Center Triage (Peds, Med Peds, OB/GYN, Adult Med), Geriatric Clinic, Outpatient Psychiatry at the Rachel Upjohn Building (adult, child, adolescent), Ypsilanti Health Center (Family Medicine).


Provide the delivery of culturally sensitive, age-specific nursing care for adult medicine, pediatric, OB/GYN, geriatric, and outpatient adult/child/adolescent psychiatric patient populations, including but not limited to:

  • Telephone triage

  • Perform health assessments and screenings

  • Provide direct patient care

  • Teach patients and families about various medical conditions, treatments and self-care

  • Coordinate internal and external resources related to patient care

  • Accurate and expedient documentation of nursing care

Work with physicians/providers and other disciplines to carry out clinical standards of care for various patient diagnoses and to promote continuity of care

Know and appropriately use internal and external resources

Provide functional supervision to assistive personnel

Collaborate with colleagues, other disciplines and health/care community services to promote continuity of care

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:

Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.

Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level E.

Required Qualifications*

Current license as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan

Minimum of one year of recent RN experience (within the last 5 years) in an ambulatory care clinic, home care, or emergency department setting (non-research based), providing care to adult and pediatric patients

Demonstrated expertise in Tele-health nursing and patient education

Demonstrated knowledge and skills providing patient and family education, self-management and coaching related to health promotion of the patient and family

Demonstrated critical thinking skills through use of the nursing process, excellent problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities

Demonstrated adaptability to changing needs and priorities based on unit, department, and institutional goals/objectives

Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal communication skills, and ability to build respectful relationships within and between units and individuals

Exhibits high standards of personal and professional conduct as measured by interviews, references, and performance evaluations

Demonstrated accountability and dependability including good attendance and punctuality as evidenced by references and evaluations

Desired Qualifications*

Family medicine RN clinic experience

Geriatric RN clinic experience

Outpatient psychiatry RN clinic experience (adult, child, adolescent)

OB/GYN RN clinic experience


Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation

Bilingual: English and Spanish preferred

Work Schedule

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift/ Hours/ Days: Monday through Friday; specific hours & days to be determined based on each clinic need (varied 8 hour shifts between 8am and 6pm).

Locations: East Ann Arbor Health Center Triage (Peds, Med Peds, OB/GYN, Adult Med), Geriatric Clinic, Outpatient Psychiatry at the Rachel Upjohn Building (adult, child, adolescent), Ypsilanti Health Center (Family Medicine)

Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
