Job Description

Job Summary:

Manages activities, workflow and nursing resources of assigned nursing unit(s).

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.

  • Conducts hiring, training, directing, development and evaluating of staff.

  • Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient care services for the assigned unit(s). Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.

  • Monitors and adheres to budget. Approves or monitors expenditures, purchases and other actions to ensure compliance with budget guidelines.

  • Ensures delivery of department services in an effective, efficient manner in keeping with the Hospital mission/philosophy/standards established by regulatory agencies

  • Establishes measurements of productivity & assures standards are maintained

  • Identifies customer needs for department services & products; assures needs are met within budgetary parameters

  • Stays current w/developments in methodology & technology & alters productivity/performance standards to adapt to change; teaches same

Qualifications

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):

  • Certified BLS Provider obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the New York Department of Education obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Preferred Credential(s):

  • Advanced Life Support.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate Degree

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing management or equivalent with three years management experience preferred.

  • BSN started with 6 months of hire into position
