ProMedica Bixby Hospital is located in Adrian, Mich. We are an 88-bed, full-service acute-care hospital that never rests. Dedicated to serving our community, we have more than 120 active doctors working rigorously to meet the needs of our patients and their families. The LD unit at Bixby consists of 10 LDRP beds, 3 triage beds and 1 OR. The hospital delivers approximately 650 babies every year. The Charge Nurse oversees the successful delivery of quality patient care to a group of infants through geriatric patients and functions as a staff nurse when needed. Essential Functions: - Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served (i.e.: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric) as written in the departmental standards. - Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents outcomes related to nursing diagnosis and patient care problems for each patient. Collaborates with all members of the health care team to promote a seamless patient care continuum. Coordinates patients plan of care through effective shift-to-shift communication. - Provides input to management regarding budget, daily operations, staff performance, personnel matters and issues of concern. Ensures adequate stock supplies and properly functioning equipment. - Utilizes appropriate techniques necessary to control / prevent infections. - Employs critical thinking skills and sound judgment in all aspects of care. Initiates emergency care as necessary and maintains BCLS, ACLS and other certifications required. - Addresses patient/family education needs considering patient level of comprehension, style of learning, and discharge needs. - Follows proper chain of command when issuesroblems arise and demonstrates appropriate follow-through. Facilitates problem resolution; maintains effective communication with Manager, staff, physicians, families and other departments. - Displays professionalism at all times and maintains patient confidentiality.
